The Lovejoys are Their new album „A Taste of Bongo“ (Langusta Entertainment, AND 007) features raw breakbeat-funk, psychedelica, bubblegum-pop, sixties-instrumental-soul, movie- and tv-show-themes, funky strip-tease- or science-fiction-cheesy-listening with horns, keyboards, guitars and old synthesizers. „A Taste of Bongo“ is: A. A bongo flavored, Tijuana Brass Band inspired instrumental version of „A Taste of Honey“, B. A tribute to the „Incredible Bongo Band“ which is one of the great inspirations to the Lovejoys and C. An homage to all sorts of percussion sounds which appear in space age, easy listening, B-movie- or tv-soundtracks and classic funk. Old TV series themes, completely unknown and really well-known instrumental tracks of more or less known instrumental bands of the 60's and 70's; these are the main elements of the Lovejoys' music. A main interest of the Lovejoys are all those songs that many hip hop artists have sampled for their tracks. "Lonely Bull" was the track, that the Delinquent Habits made a hit of with "Tres Delinquentes", "Apache" of the "Incredible Bongo Band" was and is a standart for breakbeat tracks and the Beastie Boys' "Root Down" was sampled out of a Jimmy Smith Composition, that the Lovejoys now play, and play, - and play. deutsch Die Bieler Band The Lovejoys ist zurück von Planet Bongo und spielt auf dem in den letzten zwei Jahren an verschiedenen Orten aufgenommenen Album „A Taste Of Bongo“ (Langusta Entertainment AND 007) ungehobelten Breakbeat-Funk, Psychedelica, Bubblegum-Pop, Sixties-Instrumental-Soul, Film- und TV-Musik, Cheesy Listening für Krimi, Strip-Tease und Science Fiction mit Bläsern, Keyboards, alten Synthesizern und Gitarren. Der Titel „A Taste of Bongo“ ist A. Eine „bongo flavoured“, der "Tijuana Brass Band" angelehnte Version von „A Taste of Honey“ B. Eine Hommage an die „Incredible Bongo Band“, die eine der Inspirationsquellen der Lovejoys ist und lehnt C. an Perkussions-Rhythmen an, die oft Bestandteil von B-Movie-Soundtracks und funky Unterhaltungsmusik sind. Als Special Guests konnten unter anderem das in Berlin stationierte Sound 8 Orchestra für eine Instrumentalversion von Serge Gainsbourgs' „Les Sucettes“ gewonnen werden. Bei einigen Tracks spielt der Lausanne-orientierte Musiker und Komponist Raphaëel Noir Keyboards und Xylophon. Den Gesang bestritt u.a. Martina „Ms. Hurricane“ Schibler (Bern und Biel). Das Cover gestaltete die Bieler Künstlerin Milica Slacanin. Das Album ist einerseits als LP in einer Spezial-Ausführung in weissem Vinyl erhältlich. Andererseits ist sie als digital Download auf allen üblichen Plattformen wie itunes und vielen anderen erhätlich. français Définir le style musical des Lovejoys n'est pas chose aisée. Dire qu'il s'agit d'un mélange de funk et d'easy listening n'apporte que peu de lumière. En fait, le groupe fait des reprises des versions originales de titres qui ont été samplés par des rappers, ou des breakers, comme les Beastie Boys, par exemple. (...)
